Expanding our Network: Partnering with Blockstack to Give Users the
Keys to The Next Generation of dApps

A few weeks ago, we announced our partnership with Blockstack to integrate its tokens (“Stacks”) into our full suite of products for consumers and institutional clients, including in the Blockchain Wallet, Blockchain Explorer, Blockchain Markets and our new crypto exchange, The PIT.

To kick things off, we’re launching our second airdrop in the Blockchain Airdrop program to give away Stacks to Gold Level users in eligible geographies – for free!

For many,  this will be the first chance to receive and hold Stacks, so we wanted to take a minute to introduce Blockstack, its mission, and how Blockchain Wallet users can reserve their Stacks.

New to Blockstack? Here’s what you need to know:

We have a long history of mutual admiration with Blockstack as fellow advocates of users having complete control over their digital identity and data. The Blockstack team, led by Muneeb Ali, were early pioneers in the movement toward decentralized applications, and have never wavered in their commitment to putting users in control of their identity.

Founded in 2013, Blockstack’s network has attracted hundreds of independent developer teams to create apps that put users in control of their data. These apps offer private, secure alternatives to applications run by large tech companies. There are currently over 300 applications on the Blockstack network. Examples include Mumble, a secure, privacy centric chat app; BitPatron, a censorship-resistant membership platform; and Envelop, a file transfer service that enables users to share private documents without losing their ownership.

Earlier this year, Blockstack made history by becoming the first SEC-qualified token offering in the United States, raising over $23M in the offering and a concurrent Asia strategic round from more than 4,500 individual investors and entities.

“Blockstack has methodically built the foundation for a new internet where users are in control of their data and identity,” says Peter Smith, our CEO and Co-founder. “We look forward to not only expanding the number of Stacks holders, but also onboarding them into an ecosystem of apps that puts the sanctity of their data first.”

What’s next?

Secure your spot in the Airdrop with Blockstack today!

We created the Blockchain Airdrop program to make it safe and easy for users to try and discover new crypto.  In order to ensure that the airdrop is fairly distributed and is going to real people, you must be a Gold Level user in order to participate.

Gold Level users can automatically reserve Stacks by simply logging in to the Blockchain Wallet. Not Gold Level? It’s easy to upgrade. Visit your Wallet’s profile and submit an accepted form of identification and take a photo. Unfortunately due to regulatory reasons, users in the United States, Canada, and Japan are ineligible to receive Stacks.

We plan to airdrop the Stacks to all users at the same time before February 2020, and we’ll notify you when your tokens have been delivered, so keep an eye on your email inbox!

Sign up for a Wallet and get to Gold Level to get free crypto! Stay tuned for more airdrop details here on our blog and social channels @Blockchain.
